Pharmacist PRN-Inpatient

The Pharmacist ensures the overall integrity, safety, rationality, and effectiveness of the drug use control process for all patients in the assigned geographic or specialty area, including Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics.

• For Hire: Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy required or obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
• For Continued Employment: Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy.

• Required: N/A
• Preferred: Minimum of one (1) year of pharmacy practice experience in a similar setting. Previous experience with state-of-the-art drug distribution, clinical service methods, drug information sources, and communication methods.

• Required: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited academic program.
• Preferred: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.
  
  D.) from an accredited academic program.

Monitoring, screening, and verifying all drug-related orders for proper dosage, route, form, and schedule; ensuring expedited preparation and dispensing; resolving drug therapy problems; clarifying and correcting problematic orders; assigning tasks to pharmacy technicians; counseling patients on medication use; resolving operational issues.

• Availability to work evenings, nights, and weekends.

Includes lifting 20-50 lbs, prolonged standing and sitting, frequent bending, walking, climbing, reaching; strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, clear speech, legible writing, reading, logical thinking; ability to handle a fast-paced, noisy environment and adapt to change.
