ResponsibilitiesThe Physical Therapist is primarily responsible for the delivery of physical therapy care to the patient population to which she/he is assigned and the recording of that care in the hospital medical record.
The therapist acts as a consultant to various patient clinics, provides instruction to PT support staff, students, personnel of other disciplines within VCUHS, and patient and/or family members.
Therapists may rotate through our various clinical service areas.
Licensure and Certification Requirements for Hire- Licensed (or licensure eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist
- Current license by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist
- Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area
- REQUIRED: New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as a Physical Therapist
- PREFERRED: Previous affiliation or work experience at a similar facility
- REQUIRED: Graduate of an accredited School of Physical Therapy
- PREFERRED: Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Physical Therapy
- Patient evaluation and implementation of plan of care, discharge planning.
- Ordering equipment.
- Representing department at rounds and discharge conferences.
- Scheduling and charging patients.
- Employee may have supervisory responsibilities of Physical Therapist Assistants, Rehab Technicians, students, and volunteers.
- Employee is a member of a self-directed team and applies his knowledge and experience in daily clinic problem solving.
- The team will bring unresolved issues to departmental manager for assistance and guidance in their resolution.
Position Requirements
Schedules and work hours will be established with your specific Manager. Schedules, including weekends and holidays, will be required based on the unit's organizational and staffing needs.

Physical Requirements- Lifting 50-100 lbs.
