Lead-level epidemiologist responsible for overseeing and managing epidemiologists and staff in conducting epidemiologic activities for the Virginia Department of Health, with focus on cancer prevention and control. The role involves surveillance, data analysis, training, and coordination of disease outbreak investigations while working under limited supervision on program management and policy development.
Key qualifications- Considerable knowledge of communicable and public health conditions, surveillance methods, and disease outbreak investigations
- Working knowledge of biostatistics, computer data analysis, and data management techniques
- Demonstrated ability to develop program goals, evaluate effectiveness, and lead/direct others
- Experience in epidemiology, public health, or related area
- Ability to communicate effectively with health care professionals and the general public
- Experience in cancer research, data analysis, or evaluation
