# Certified Medical Assistant - Urology Team## Overview Salary Range $18.50 - $20.50 Hourly Level Experienced Position  Type Full Time Job Shift Day Travel  Percentage Float between Richmond area offices## What You Do
** Our urology team is looking for a certified medical assistant!*
* ** Full-time Opening:
** 40 hours/week  
** Scheduled

Shifts:

** Monday - Friday  
** Scheduled

Hours:

** primarily 8-hour shifts with 30-minute lunch break, variable start times (example: 7:00am-3:30pm, 7:15am-3:45pm, etc.)  
** Locations:
** designated days each week at RVA locations (West End, Short Pump, Mechanicsville, and/or Midlothian)

* Summary:

** Our urology team's Medical Assistants assist physicians and nursing staff with patient exams, tests, and procedures.
** Essential Duties and Responsibilities
** include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Greets and prepares patients for examinations and assists provider.
2. Instructs patients regarding tests and in the collection of urine specimens, as needed.
3. Conducts microscopic urinalysis evaluation using Clinitek Status.
4. Prepares exam rooms, instruments, and gowns per appointment type.
5. Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
6. Demonstrates efficient navigation of Electronic Medical Record and pertinent electronic applications.
7. Obtains vital signs & history. Records data in patients electronic chart.
8. Prepares lab requisitions, prints labels, and verifies patient identity by name and DOB for all labs.
9. Cleans and sterilizes instruments and equipment.
10. Stocks clinical supplies in the exam rooms and nurses stations daily.
11. Facilitates the efficient flow of patients.
12. Attends required meetings.
13. Complies with Virginia Women's Center's policies and procedures. Follows guidelines required by HIPAA, OSHA, and Red Flags regulations. Maintains appropriate attendance and punctuality as defined by Virginia Women's Center's policy.
** Qualifications

** Education, Experience, and/or Licensure
*** High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
* Medical Assistant Certification or equivalent (RMA, EMT, NCMA, CCMA, etc.) certification
* One-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Previous urology experience required
** Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
** Knowledge of VWC’s computer system software and its functionality as it pertains to patient care.

Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care.

Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to Ob/Gyn specialty.

Knowledge of OSHA guidelines.

Skill in preparing and maintaining records.

Skill in maintaining departmental quality assurance and quality control standards.

Skill in performing assistance tasks appropriately.

Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and memos.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to type 30 words per minute.

Ability to maintain strictest patient confidentiality.

Ability to communicate with patient to ascertain needs (requires independent judgment for assessing patient needs for appropriate preparation for exam).Ability to obtain vital signs.

Ability to demonstrate accuracy and efficiency in recording information in patients charts and in labeling specimens.

Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Ability to respond with flexibility to changing workload or patient assignments.

Ability to perform effectively as a team member, supporting a patient-focused environment in all interactions with patients, families, visitors, and volunteers.
** Physical Demands
** Varied activities including sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, and reaching.  Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.  Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and to lift 50 pounds.  Must be able to use a variety of office equipment including phone, writing instruments, keyboard, fax, and medical equipment including stethoscope,…
