Banquet Manager – Richmond, VA. Company:

Food and Beverage. Full‑time, exempt. Reports to Food and Beverage Director.
The Banquet Manager coordinates all food and beverage services for events in the hotel’s banquet and meeting rooms. The role involves planning, organizing, and executing events such as weddings, corporate meetings, conferences, parties, and other special occasions while maintaining the standards expected by the hotel.
Essential Job Functions- Event Planning and Coordination: Work with clients to clarify menu, layout, audiovisual, and special requests; schedule, staff, and logistics; ensure final execution meets client specifications.
- Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise banquet staff; assign duties and create schedules to guarantee coverage.
- Customer Service: Deliver exceptional service before, during, and after events; resolve client concerns promptly.
- Budgeting and Financial Management: Develop event budgets, monitor expenses and revenue, and maintain profitability.
- Vendor Management: Coordinate with caterers, florists, decorators, and entertainers; negotiate contracts for quality and competitive pricing.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Enforce food safety standards, fire codes, and maintain cleanliness & sanitation.
- Event Marketing and Sales: Assist in marketing banquet facilities; participate in sales presentations and client tours.
- Administrative Tasks: Keep accurate records of bookings, payments, and correspondence; produce reports on performance and feedback.
- Problem Solving: Address emergencies such as equipment failures, staffing shortages, or guest complaints.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify operational improvements and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Customer service experience.
- Strong prioritization and time‑management skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team and take ownership of tasks.
- Positive attitude and commitment to excellent service.
