Job Title: Cybersecurity Engineer
Location: Richmond, VA, (Remote)- Preference is for local Richmond candidates.
Position Type: Contract
Interview Mode: Web Cam
Note: candidates will be required to attend monthly meetings onsite in Richmond
Key Responsibilities
EDR Administration & Operations (40%)
- Administer and maintain Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) platforms and agents
- Tune detection rules to reduce false positives and improve threat visibility
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date asset inventories for each covered locality
- Perform regular platform and agent updates
- Review, configure, and optimize security policies
- Conduct routine system health checks
- Investigate and remediate unexpected agent behavior
- Ensure integrations function properly and troubleshoot issues as identified
- Administer and maintain vulnerability management platforms and agents
- Configure, schedule, and manage vulnerability scans across localities
- Tune scan policies to improve accuracy and reduce false positives
- Maintain accurate asset inventories
- Perform system health checks and platform updates
- Investigate and remediate unexpected agent behavior
- Ensure integrations are operational and resolve integration issues
- Respond to and resolve customer inquiries via ticketing systems and SOC channels
- Support and maintain Remote Monitoring & Management (RMM) platforms and agents
- Accurately document incidents, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions
- Escalate complex or unresolved issues to appropriate teams
- Monitor ticket queues and ensure SLA compliance
- Proactively follow up with customers and stakeholders
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience administering cybersecurity tools and platforms
- Hands-on knowledge of EDR, vulnerability management, and security monitoring tools
- Experience tuning security policies and detection rules
- Understanding of asset management and system integrations
- Strong troubleshooting and incident response skills
- Excellent documentation and communication abilities
- Ability to support multi-tenant or multi-organization environments
- Experience working in government or regulated environments (preferred)
- Security+
- Crowd Strike Certified Falcon Administrator (CCFA)
- Tenable Certified
- Additional Cybersecurity Related Certifications
