Where

the team fits in

This role sits within Prop Track. Prop Track provides property data and technical platform solutions to customers in the financial and government sectors. The Engineering Team within Prop Track works together to deliver solutions to our internal and external customers. It is the core delivery centre for developing solutions to meet customer priorities and align with Prop Track’s technology strategy.

As a Data Engineer in the Wolf squad at Prop Track, you will build and run Project Prime, a program focused on creating a property-centric data platform that ingests property data from multiple sources, standardises and models it through transformation layers, and serves it via trusted datasets and APIs for analytics and downstream products. You will deliver and improve these pipelines end to end using DBT, Airflow/Breeze, and Big Query, with a strong focus on data quality, performance, observability, and operational ownership.

What

the role is all about
  • Designing, building and maintaining data pipelines, models and APIs across ingestion, transformation and consumption layers.
  • Working with technologies such as DBT, Airflow and Big Query to deliver accurate, timely and reliable property data.
  • Enhancing existing products, including resolving data quality issues, improving performance and implementing scalable patterns.
  • Supporting production systems by contributing to monitoring, observability, automation and operational best practices.
  • Ensuring the reliability, security and resilience of our systems in line with REA’s “you build it, you run it” philosophy.
  • Collaborating with engineers, analysts and product managers to understand requirements and design high-quality, user-centred solutions.
  • Participating in code reviews, technical design sessions and agile ceremonies to support continuous improvement across the team.
Who we’re looking for
  • Strong programming skills in at least one modern language (Python, Typescript/NodeJS, Scala) and strong SQL capability.
  • Good understanding of design patterns, modern software development techniques, and continuous delivery strategies.
  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and data models using tools such as Airflow, Big Query or DBT.
  • Experience with Kafka or Flink is a nice to have.
  • Understanding of data modelling and data quality practices
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (GCP or AWS) and Dev Ops concepts such as Docker and CI/CD.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve data quality issues, performance problems and production incidents.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with business stakeholders.
  • A curious, pragmatic mindset with a passion for building reliable, scalable data solutions.
