Position Title: Middleware Engineer (Web Sphere / Liberty / Open Shift)
Location: Remote — must reside near one of the following cities:
Richmond, Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Atlanta, Chicago, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Dallas, San Francisco
Clearance Requirements: U.S. Citizenship required
Position Status: 12-Month Contract (Extension or Conversion Possible)
Pay Rate: $65–$75/hour
We are seeking a Middleware Engineer with deep expertise in IBM Web Sphere Application Server, Web Sphere Liberty, Open Shift, and enterprise middleware infrastructure to support mission-critical systems. This role focuses on high-availability architecture, performance optimization, containerized deployments, and platform reliability

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to design, deploy, and support secure, scalable middleware environments that power large-scale enterprise applications. Install, configure, administer, and support Web Sphere Application Server (ND & Base) environments
Design and implement high-availability architectures (clustering, load balancing, failover)
Deploy and manage Web Sphere Liberty on VMs and container platforms
Orchestrate containerized middleware workloads in Open Shift
Perform system upgrades, migrations, patching, and performance tuning
Troubleshoot production issues and provide root-cause analysis
Maintain secure system environments and ensure compliance with enterprise standards
Evaluate new middleware technologies and recommend improvements
Support infrastructure growth planning and capacity forecasting
Conduct integration testing for new platform releases and system updates
Strong hands‑on experience with IBM Web Sphere Application Server administration
Proven experience designing high‑availability enterprise middleware systems
Expertise in Web Sphere Liberty deployments (VM‑based + containerized)
Experience with
Open Shift container orchestrationBackground in middleware migrations, upgrades, and performance optimization
Familiarity with enterprise repositories, IHS binaries, and server customization
Ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues
Strong documentation, automation, and scripting skills
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
