Job Description & How to Apply Below
Overview
Insight Global is seeking a Sr. Network Specialist for a top government client. This individual will serve as the network subject matter expert, helping the agency understand, document, and design its complex network environment. The role focuses heavily on network architecture, diagramming, and vendor collaboration rather than hands-on configuration. This person will support on-prem to cloud migrations, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and ensuring vendors are aligned with the agency’s infrastructure standards.
This role will start 5 days onsite for the first month, then become hybrid, 2-3 days onsite a week. We can offer a max starting hourly rate of $55/hr.
- Learn and assess the current network environment.
- Create and update comprehensive network diagrams for infrastructure and vendor modules.
- Design true network architectures supporting on-prem to cloud migrations.
- Act as the network subject matter expert.
- Partner directly with vendor network teams to plan, design, and troubleshoot connectivity.
- Support project-based work on the server/infrastructure side.
- Assist in troubleshooting outages and connection issues (no hands-on configuration changes).
- Provide architectural guidance while integrator performs configuration-level work.
- Mid-to-senior level network engineering or network architecture experience.
- Strong understanding of network architecture and design of LAN, WAN and VPN wireless networks.
- Experience creating and maintaining detailed network diagrams.
- Ability to work directly with external vendors like Optum and Gainwell.
- Experience supporting cloud-based environments (Azure and AWS preferred).
- Knowledge of VPNs, direct circuits, and hybrid on-prem/cloud connectivity.
- Familiarity with Cisco networking concepts and basic commands.
- Strong troubleshooting skills during outages and connectivity issues.
- Comfortable in government environments where work may start slow and ramp quickly.
- Prior experience in government or public-sector environments.
- CCNA or similar networking certification.
