Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Enterprise Data Steward to support a large-scale data governance initiative with the State. This is a business-facing role focused on improving data quality, strengthening data management practices, and guiding internal teams on data stewardship activities.

This position is ideal for professionals with strong communication skills and hands-on experience in data governance, data quality, and data stewardship, rather than technical development or engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary liaison between business divisions and the enterprise Data Program
• Coordinate and facilitate regular meetings with data stewards across departments
• Guide teams in creating and maintaining:
• Business rules
• Data definitions and documentation
• Support the preparation of datasets for data quality measurement within governance tools
• Provide training and coaching on data management and stewardship best practices
• Collaborate with SMEs and system owners to resolve data quality issues
• Ensure adherence to enterprise data governance standards and processes

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong understanding of data governance, data management, and data quality concepts
• Experience in data stewardship or business-facing data roles
• Proven ability to create or improve data dictionaries, business rules, and documentation
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to coordinate across multiple teams and manage priorities effectively
• Proficiency with tools like Excel, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams

Preferred Skills

• Experience with data governance tools such as Collibra (training can be provided)
