Senior AWS Engineer – Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. The role involves designing, deploying, and managing scalable, fault‑tolerant AWS infrastructure to support the Reserve’s economic, financial, and payment systems.
Responsibilities- Lead consulting activities and documentation in partnership with NIT, Cloud Foundation Teams, and district stakeholders to meet business requirements.
- Collaborate with teams to translate requirements into efficient, cost‑effective AWS solutions using industry‑standard practices.
- Design and implement scalable, fault‑tolerant, and secure AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
- Automate deployment, testing, and monitoring through CI/CD pipelines.
- Monitor and troubleshoot production issues using AWS services such as Cloud Watch, Cloud Trail, IAM, EC2, Lambda, ECS Fargate, and Parallel Cluster.
- Optimize performance, cost, and reliability of AWS applications while ensuring cloud‑native best practices.
- Design and deploy HPC clusters with Slurm scheduling and parallel file systems (Ceph, GPFS, Lustre, EFS).
- Implement automation via Terraform and Docker, and optimize scientific workflows (MPI/OpenMP) with GPU/accelerator support in cloud and hybrid environments.
- Provide Linux (RHEL/CentOS) administration and scripting with Python and Bash.
- Implement security and governance controls to ensure compliance with audit requirements and Information Security guidelines.
- Continuously improve Dev Sec Ops processes to enhance organizational efficiency and agility.
- Lead critical technical projects and train staff on tools, standards, and procedures.
- 10+ years of experience in cloud engineering, primarily AWS.
- 5+ years of hands‑on HPC experience.
- Ability to act as a trusted advisor to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Excellent communication skills – concise, direct, and purposeful.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Proven track record working effectively in large enterprise environments.
- AWS Associate or Professional certifications strongly preferred.
- U.S. citizenship or three or more years of permanent resident (Green Card) status.
- Eligibility for a government security investigation.
