Enterprise Data Modeler

Position is based in Richmond, VA and requires local candidates. The candidate will be required to interview and work onsite part-time, with the possibility of contract extension beyond June 30, 2025. The contractor will be responsible for their own parking arrangements. The role involves developing data models for data assets and implementing a cloud-based data management platform. Responsibilities include creating conceptual data models, translating business needs into data models, and documenting data designs.

The role involves presenting modeling results to internal stakeholders and development teams and ensuring alignment to the defined architecture. The candidate will perform data profiling and analysis, develop canonical models, and propose solutions to data-related system integration challenges. The role requires integration of source systems into the MDM solution, implementation of business rules for data reconciliation and deduplication, and enforcing data models and naming standards.

The candidate will establish processes for governing corporate metadata and tracking data quality, redundancy, and improvement. The role involves data capacity planning, lifecycle management, conducting feasibility studies, and creating strategies for data security, backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and archiving. The candidate must ensure that data strategies and architectures comply with regulations and must have a good knowledge of data privacy practices and laws.

Strong written and oral communication skills and presentation skills are required. Experience in writing queries (SQL, Python, R, Scala) and with data technologies such as Azure Synapse, SQL Server, Snowflake, Databricks is necessary.
