Position Overview
Senior Research Analyst/Data Coordinator (00022), Policy Planning Specialist II, Agency Brightpoint Community College, Chesterfield – 041. Position Code 19132‑SW, FLSA Exempt, Pay Band 05, Full‑time. Hiring Range up to $85,000 (commensurate with experience and qualifications). This position is a Senior Research Analyst/Data Coordinator in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.
Work Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 am‑5:00 pm; as needed. Telework options subject to change based on business needs. No bilingual or multilingual skill requirement.

- Software Application Development, Management, and Documentation:
Develop and maintain Oracle queries, SAS Enterprise Guide programs, SQL programs, and warehouses. Establish and organize libraries in a SQL warehouse, collaborate with stakeholders to create comprehensive queries, produce automatic reporting, and document procedures. - Data Visualization:
Lead transition of static reports into data visualizations and dashboards using Power‑BI. Build and maintain interactive visualizations and refine them based on feedback. - Data Reporting:
Provide data and analysis to meet state and federal reporting requirements. Produce and analyze data for reports such as fact sheets, enrollment summaries, and profiles. - Internal and Ad‑Hoc Reporting:
Produce data and visualizations for ad‑hoc reporting for various audiences and support executive decision‑making. - Accreditation, Assessment, and Strategic Planning:
Maintain the Student Achievement Data page, provide data support for accreditation, assessment, and planning activities. Develop assessment and general education assessment report templates, populate them with data, and support data analytics and visualizations.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned and assist the agency or state government during emergencies declared by the Governor.
Required Qualifications and Skills- Work effectively independently and collaboratively with a diverse campus community, producing accurate, visually engaging, and Section 508 accessible content.
- Show substantial knowledge of statistical software (SAS Enterprise Guide preferred), SQL, research methodology, and statistical and analytical techniques.
- Build dashboards and queries using data applications according to specifications.
- Create and modify data models using inferential statistics from various database sources, interpreting and formatting data for constituencies.
- Effective analytical and organizational capabilities.
- Analyze data and develop reports for internal and external audiences.
- Communicate data findings via written reports and clear presentations with creative visualizations.
- Computer skills in Windows Office applications, advanced Power‑BI, statistical software (SAS, Excel), programming languages (SQL, Python).
- Manage and update data lineage and dictionaries.
- Author technical documentation, user manuals, technical design documents, or data definitions.
- Prioritize and complete complex projects within established time frames, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to learn and utilize new technologies to increase efficiencies within OIE.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of coursework and experience in programming, troubleshooting code, information systems, database applications, research methods, visualizations, or statistical analysis. Master’s degree preferred. Experience with data extraction, analysis, and uploading in an educational setting, familiarity with People Soft Oracle SIS, statistical software (SAS, SPSS, or STATA), interactive data visualizations for diverse audiences, and work in a higher education institution.
Knowledge of the community college mission and experience using generative AI to enhance data analysis and reporting.
Successful completion of a background check is required. No state vehicle operation. No employee supervision. No required travel, except as needed.
