Job Description & How to Apply Below
At Elephant Insurance, we believe that if you like what you do, you'll do it better. Our dynamic, supportive culture has earned us repeat recognition as a "Great Place to Work," and we're proud to be an employer where you'll feel valued and empowered to grow. As our company continues to expand, we focus on fostering individual contribution, long-term commitment, and employee development.
We remain committed to building an adaptable and customer-centric workplace that recognizes talent, encourages new ideas, and puts people at the heart of everything we do.
Our Culture
- Despite being in business for 15 years, we are a start-up at heart, and you will feel that in how we collaborate, move incredibly quickly, and use our technology advantages to creatively solve customer problems.
- Our company is built around the fact that people who like what they do, do it better. We pride ourselves on a relaxed and dynamic company culture that has earned us the honor of being named one of the best places to work each year.
- We believe in working hard, but we also believe that the best teams are built by having fun together and we make it a priority to enjoy having fun with our teammates.
- We believe that work-life balance is a key component to our success - our culture discourages working excessive, unproductive, hours. 40-hour weeks are the norm around here and employees are discouraged from having email on their phone or responding after hours.
- Every employee starts with 22 days of paid time off each year plus an additional day each year after that. PTO is meant to be used and is an important part of work-life balance - each manager encourages their employees to use all PTO.
- 401(k) match.
- Health savings account (HSA) option with the choice of three medical plans.
- Dental, vision, legal and disability coverage.
- Gym membership reimbursement and athletic event reimbursement.
- Local discounts with various restaurants, gyms and other companies.
THE ROLE
The Product Business Analyst II is the connection between our business teams and IT. When a stakeholder has a problem to solve or a feature to build, you are the person who figures out exactly what needs to happen before developers writes a single line of code. And you stay with it through launch, making sure what gets built actually solves the problem.
This role is evolving. AI tools are changing the importance of different responsibilities within the role. AI has made writing requirements easier and code development faster. That has resulted in the role focusing more on understanding the business and collaboration. The candidates who will thrive here are the ones who use AI to handle the boilerplate faster, so they can spend more time on the work that actually matters such as building stakeholder trust, asking the question nobody else thought to ask, and owning the quality of the final deliverable.
You don't just take orders. You interview stakeholders, dig into how our systems actually work, identify the requirements they didn't know they had, and translate all of it into something IT can build from. Then you watch what gets delivered, review the output against the intent, and speak up when something isn't right.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build relationships with business stakeholders across Claims, Underwriting, Finance, Marketing, and Operations to become the person they call before they write the ticket, not after.
- Lead requirements discovery by interviewing not just the original requestor, but adjacent teams and anyone else who touches the process to surface the requirements they didn't know they had.
- Use AI tools to accelerate the documentation layer to draft requirements, functional specs, and user stories freeing more time for the high-value stakeholder and quality work.
- Liaise between business and IT throughout the project lifecycle, managing communication, resolving clarifications, and keeping delivery on track.
- Own post-launch quality: review dashboards, reports, and system outputs after every release to confirm the build is performing as intended and escalate clearly when it isn't.
- Track project status across active work streams and communicate updates proactively so stakeholders are never surprised.
- Ask the question that wasn't asked to surface the "what happens when X?" issues before they become expensive fixes.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of experience in business analysis, IT project coordination, product operations, or a similar role (internships and co-ops count).
- Strong relationship and communication skills - stakeholders should find you easy to work with, and IT should find your documentation easy to build from.
- Genuine curiosity about how systems and data work - you want to understand why something is built the way it is, not just how to use it.
- Analytical mindset: you can read a report or a data output and spot when something looks wrong.
- Demonstrated comfort…
