ERM Senior Associate, Project Management

Capital One’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Team has responsibility for helping the overall organization identify, manage, and mitigate key risks that may keep the company from achieving its strategic objectives. ERM is currently seeking a candidate who will have the opportunity to apply their project management, organization, and process management skills to support, as a part of our ERM project management team, a diverse set of initiatives with a broad range of complexity and scale.

This Senior Associate role is focused on the development, governance, and management of project plans, tracking progress to milestones, managing dependencies across efforts, leveraging problem‑solving skills to support timely delivery to intent, maintaining supporting documentation, and providing status reporting. The role will effectively apply teamwork, organization, and results‑oriented skills to support the driving efforts to closure. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of project or process management, along with good communication and partnership skills for engaging with project teams and stakeholders.

The Senior Associate will also have the opportunity to engage and partner with risk program and practice owners, stakeholders, and the risk community across the enterprise.

Responsibilities
  • Support both internal projects within ERM, as well as enterprise‑wide risk management methodology and process integrations and enhancements that can vary in scope and impact.
  • Develop and manage project plans, including dependencies and resolution of issues.
  • Track progress of tasks and milestones, and report on status; ensure supporting artifacts are well documented and of high quality.
  • Partner in the development of meeting agendas and supporting materials.
  • Build relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments.
  • Engage in peer‑peer community and support.
  • Be intellectually curious to question the obvious, explore options, and seek efficiencies and improvements.
  • Engage with and support audits and regulatory exams, addressing requests in a timely manner.
  • Help support, where needed, special projects and engagements.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience.
  • At least 1 year of Project Management experience.
  • At least 1 year of process, risk management, or audit experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience with project management tools and techniques (RAID, Waterfall, Agile).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience in the financial industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

McLean, VA: $96,500 - $110,100 for Sr. Project Manager

Richmond, VA: $87,700 - $100,100 for Sr. Project Manager

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non‑discretionary depending on the plan.
