We are partnered with a global technology consulting organization supporting a large-scale transportation modernization initiative focused on improving digital services and reducing in-person interactions within a state-level transportation agency. The team is entering a critical phase of the program, focused on scoping, defining, and planning a comprehensive modernization of the agency's software environment.
They are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to work directly with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements, build user stories, and help shape the roadmap for future system enhancements. This role is highly client-facing and ideal for someone who thrives in consultative environments, enjoys leading stakeholder discussions, and is excited about leveraging AI tools to improve requirements gathering, documentation, and overall BA efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Lead requirements gathering sessions with business and technical stakeholders to define modernization initiatives and project scope (30%)
- Translate business needs into detailed user stories, functional requirements, and process documentation (25%)
- Partner with clients and delivery teams to shape product roadmaps, prioritize enhancements, and support solution planning (20%)
- Utilize AI-powered tools to streamline meeting documentation, requirements gathering, user story creation, and BA workflows (15%)
- Support Agile delivery processes including backlog refinement, stakeholder communication, and cross-functional collaboration (10%)
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst supporting software development or IT projects
- Strong experience gathering requirements and creating user stories in Agile environments
- Proven ability to work directly with clients, stakeholders, and executive leadership
- Experience supporting large-scale software implementations, modernization efforts, or digital transformation initiatives
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, backlog management, and SDLC processes
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience leveraging AI tools to improve productivity, documentation, or business analysis workflows is highly preferred
- Experience with in government, transportation, consulting, or enterprise environments is a plus
- Hybrid work environment in Richmond, VA (3 days onsite per week)
