About this Role

GFT is a leader in infrastructure planning, design, and program management, helping clients modernize operations through innovative technology, data governance, and digital transformation solutions. We are seeking an Enterprise Data Governance Analyst to support the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) enterprise Data Program. The role follows a hybrid schedule, requiring the successful candidate to report to an office three days per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with business divisions to strengthen enterprise data governance and stewardship practices.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders to improve data quality and organizational data literacy.
  • Guide business teams through structured data governance processes while building long‑term relationships.
  • Facilitate collaboration across technical and business teams to support enterprise data quality initiatives.
  • Help establish sustainable data management practices that improve decision‑making and operational effectiveness.
  • Serve as primary relationship manager for assigned business divisions, guiding data stewards through governance initiatives.
  • Lead regular meetings with stakeholders to set priorities, review progress, and ensure successful completion of deliverables.
  • Coach users on stewardship principles, data quality concepts, governance processes, and best practices.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining data dictionaries, business rules, scoping documentation, and other governance artifacts.
  • Prepare datasets for enterprise data quality measurement within the governance platform.
  • Collaborate with subject‑matter experts and system owners to identify and resolve data quality issues.
  • Promote standardized processes, consistent documentation, and effective stewardship practices across initiatives.
  • Facilitate communication between business divisions and the Data Program to align priorities.
  • Support data literacy initiatives through training, workshops, and coaching sessions.
  • Maintain organized documentation and ensure stewardship activities comply with established frameworks.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of progressive experience supporting enterprise data management, data quality, or governance initiatives.
  • Proven experience as the primary client or stakeholder contact, managing relationships and driving successful outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, stewardship, metadata management, and data quality practices.
  • Experience developing data dictionaries, business rules, glossaries, or related governance documentation.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and relationship‑building skills, engaging both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Ability to coordinate cross‑functional initiatives while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience in enterprise data governance, master data management, or business‑facing data management roles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Collibra or other enterprise data governance platforms.
  • Familiarity with transportation data, infrastructure asset management, or public sector environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise data quality initiatives or governance programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
Compensation

Salary range: $85,000 – $95,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
