RMAN Engineer – Richmond, VA

We are seeking an experienced RMAN Engineer to support Oracle database administration and recovery operations within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure environments.

Job Overview

Candidate is expected to be at the office 5 days a week and provide after‑hours and weekend support for patching and maintenance activities.

Core Responsibilities
  • Design and manage Oracle OCI environments, including database, middleware, and infrastructure components.
  • Develop and maintain Oracle APEX applications and ORDS services.
  • Configure and administer Oracle Web Logic Server and related technologies.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and conversions.
  • Implement and manage backup, recovery, and replication strategies using RMAN and other tools.
  • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and data protection.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, implementing tuning recommendations.
  • Automate routine tasks using shell scripting and tools such as Ansible.
  • Collaborate with development and Dev Ops teams to ensure seamless application deployment.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential issues, providing timely support.
  • Document and train on best practices for Oracle OCI environment management.
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • 10+ years hands‑on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and related technologies.
  • Oracle Application Express (APEX) 18 or higher.
  • Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS) 22 or higher.
  • Oracle Web Logic Server 14 (Fusion Middleware and Web Logic Suite).
  • Oracle Database 19c and 26ai; experience upgrading from 19c to 26ai.
  • Container Database (CDB) and Pluggable Database (PDB) administration.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix, shell scripting, and PDB cloning.
  • RMAN backup and recovery procedures.
  • Web Logic administration (patching/maintenance).
  • Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 24ai.
  • PSU patching of Oracle DB using Fleet Management Tool.
  • Experience with DBaaS in OCI.
  • Proficiency in Git Lab and Ansible scripting.
  • Oracle Data Guard.
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and architecture.
  • Design and implement high‑availability and disaster‑recovery solutions.
  • Oracle OEM Cloud Control monitoring and management.
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes containerization.
  • Proficiency in Python and JavaScript scripting.
  • Database security best practices.
  • Performance tuning and optimization expertise.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to provide 24/7 support and troubleshoot critical issues.
Desirable Skills
  • Oracle certifications such as OCIP, OCP, or OCE.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Git Lab CI.
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and API integration.
