Markel is seeking motivated and curious students to join our Technology Internship Program and gain hands‑on experience supporting innovative business and technology initiatives. As a Technology Intern, you will collaborate with experienced professionals, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop valuable technical and professional skills in a dynamic, team‑oriented environment.

Internship opportunities are available across several areas of our Technology organization, including:

• IT Support Services
• API Management & Innovation
• Dev Ops / Quality Engineering
• Data Services
• US Specialty Insurance Technology

This program is designed for students who are eager to learn, passionate about technology, and excited to make an impact while gaining real‑world experience at a Fortune 500 company.

Throughout the internship, you’ll have the opportunity to strengthen your problem‑solving abilities, work on strategic initiatives, and build connections with professionals across the organization while experiencing The Markel Style in action.

• Current college student (rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors) pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, other related field or military experience
• Strong academic performance (3.0 GPA minimum)
• Quick learner, with ability to adapt to changing environments
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks independently in a high-pressure environment
• Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group
• Strong problem‑solving abilities; keen attention to detail and commitment to meeting deadlines
• Ability to understand how individual and team deliverables fit in to strategic roadmap, assess and communicate changes
• Ability to work in our Richmond, VA HQ

The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors.

The salary range for the position is $24-$28.50/hr.
