The Fraud Analyst (Identity & Authentication Specialist) at the Virginia Retirement System supports fraud detection, investigation, prevention, and mitigation for the agency. The incumbent independently manages fraud cases from initiation to resolution, with a focus on verifying the identity and authenticating callers to protect VRS stakeholders from fraud schemes. This role involves client-facing work with retirees and employees, real-time identity verification, compliance investigations, and serving as backup coverage for the fraud prevention team.
Keyqualifications:
- Degree in closely related field required; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Minimum three consecutive years (in last five years) conducting fraud investigations in a financial institution or pension system
- Strong knowledge of identity and authentication techniques, trends, and scam typologies
- Experience utilizing data and statistics to conduct root cause analysis and trend research
- Previous experience leading group meetings in-person or by video
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products preferred
