What You’ll Do
A typical day as an Underwriting Intern may include:
- Researching and processing finance premium notices.
- Entering broker submissions accurately in a fast‑paced environment.
- Analyzing and processing loss run requests from brokers and policyholders.
- Preparing endorsements for audits and issuing them to brokers.
- Reviewing and assembling documentation for underwriting files.
- Completing other assigned projects to support underwriting teams.
Qualifications
A successful candidate has:
- Rising junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree (finance, economics, business administration, or related).
- Strong problem‑solving and research abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
A compelling candidate also has:
- Academic focus in risk management and insurance.
Training & Development
- Weekly Lunch & Learns with leaders on career, technical, and industry topics.
- Dedicated mentor and team to guide your internship.
- Shadowing opportunities across multiple underwriting divisions.
Hiring Timeline
- Interviews:
January – February 2027 - Offers extended after interviews
- Work hours:
Onsite in Richmond, VA, Monday–Thursday, 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Salary: $20 per hour
