Translation & Interpretation Analyst

This is a restricted position, funded by the Department of Social Services through June 30, 2027, with annual funding re‑evaluation. The Virginia Department of Health seeks an experienced Translation & Interpretation Analyst to oversee coordination of translation and interpretation services. The role manages requests, communicates with vendors, and ensures timely and accurate deliverables. It supports the VDH Translation Library and Language Access Hub through organization, version control, and monitoring of materials.

Responsibilities include reviewing translated content for quality and consistency, upholding compliance with federal and state language access requirements, promoting equitable access for LEP individuals, tracking service usage, turnaround times, and costs for reporting purposes, and serving as a primary contact for staff while collaborating with internal teams and responding to urgent language service needs.

• Knowledge of translation, interpretation, and language access principles.
• Knowledge of compliance requirements related to language access and accessibility.
• Skill in reviewing translated materials for consistency and quality.
• Strong organizational, tracking, and documentation skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment.

• Bilingual proficiency preferred (Spanish required; additional languages a plus).
• Experience in public health, healthcare, government, or human services environments preferred.
