A respected law firm is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join its Richmond-based practice focused on bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, and foreclosure litigation. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior attorney or early-career Bankruptcy Associate Attorney (0–5 years) who wants hands‑on hearings experience, strong training, and the chance to build a durable practice in a consistently active area of law.

Job Overview

This role offers the chance to build substantive experience in Bankruptcy - Creditors Rights and Bankruptcy - Litigation while supporting clients through time‑sensitive proceedings. The practice handles active dockets and values attorneys who are responsive, organized, and committed to accurate work product under deadlines.

Attorneys in this role will appear in hearings, collaborate with clients and court personnel, and manage a large caseload with attention to detail. For the right candidate, the position can serve as a strong foundation for long‑term growth and advancement in bankruptcy and creditors’ rights work.

By year‑end, you could be independently handling routine hearings, managing files from intake through resolution, and becoming a trusted point of contact for clients on core bankruptcy and foreclosure processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in bankruptcy and foreclosure proceedings, including hearings and mediations
  • Review, prepare, and manage legal pleadings, motions, and related documents
  • Communicate effectively with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel
  • Ensure all actions are completed accurately and within required deadlines
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
  • Track and manage high‑volume matters with strong organization and follow‑through
  • Support a client‑service‑forward practice with timely updates and dependable responsiveness
Qualifications
  • Active license and good standing with the Maryland and/or Virginia State Bar (VA or MD Bar required)
  • 0–5 years of bankruptcy and foreclosure experience preferred; willing to train the right candidate
  • Must have a vehicle and be willing to attend in‑person hearings
  • Must reside in Maryland or Virginia
  • Strong ability to manage and prioritize a large caseload
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high‑quality client service
  • Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Detail‑oriented, conscientious, and reliable with respect to deadlines and attendance
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, multitasking environment
  • Candidates coming from roles such as Civil Litigation Associate, creditors’ rights associate, foreclosure associate, or general litigation backgrounds are encouraged to apply—especially if you enjoy court‑facing work and deadline‑driven practice.
