Role Summary

The Project Superintendent is the senior field execution leader responsible for safety, productivity, quality, schedule adherence, and craft performance for assigned electrical scopes. This role converts the project execution plan into disciplined daily and weekly field operations, ensuring union craft personnel are positioned to perform efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The Superintendent serves as the primary conduit between on‑site field operations and off‑site project resources including Project Management, Planning/Layout/Design, Virtual Design & Construction (VDC/BIM), and Prefabrication teams.

Reporting

Relationship

Reports directly to the Project Executive while assigned to a project. Provides daily leadership to General Foremen and Foremen, and coordinates closely with the Project Manager, Safety, Quality, VDC/BIM, and Prefabrication teams. Maintains professional working relationships with union stewards and business agents as required.

Key Outcomes (What “Good” Looks Like)
  • Safety:
    Zero life‑altering incidents; leading indicators on plan (task planning, audits, near‑miss reporting, corrective actions closed).
  • Production & Labor Performance:
    Crews hit plan; earned hours vs. actual trending favorable; rework minimized.
  • Schedule:

    3–6 week lookahead reliable; weekly commitments consistently met; constraints cleared ahead of need.
  • Quality & Turnover:
    Install per drawings/specs; inspections pass with minimal punch; clean turnover readiness.
  • Integration: VDC and Prefab outputs are install‑ready, released on time, and sequenced to accelerate throughput.
Union Leadership & Workforce Stewardship
  • Lead union electrical crews in accordance with the CBA and local work rules.
  • Coordinate manpower loading, crew balance, and jurisdictional scope with General Foremen and stewards.
  • Maintain respectful, professional relationships with stewards and union representatives; resolve issues early.
  • Ensure fair work distribution, proper tool utilization, and clear task expectations.
  • Address performance issues promptly while preserving dignity and compliance.
Field Leadership & Crew Performance
  • Lead and manage electrical field operations for assigned scope (self‑perform and oversight of subs as applicable).
  • Set daily production targets; run start‑of‑shift huddles; confirm labor, tools, access, and materials are ready.
  • Coach and hold Foremen accountable for safety, quality, and production; develop next‑level field leaders.
  • Maintain a high‑performance culture: measurable commitments, rapid obstacle removal, and consistent follow‑through.
Planning, Layout & Work Packaging
  • Own installation planning and layout execution in collaboration with Planning/Layout/Design and VDC.
  • Build and maintain phase plans, weekly work plans, constraint logs, and daily install‑ready work packages.
  • Coordinate points, embeds, sleeves, and rough‑in validation; ensure tolerances and access are field‑verified.
  • Ensure work is install‑ready before crews mobilize (drawings/models approved, materials kitted, access secured).
