This position is not a technology, Agile position. Focus is more on root cause Project Manager (Process Improvement & Issues Management).

This role provides change management project support for the Mortgage Servicing business, with a primary focus on process improvement and issues management (not a technology/Agile delivery role). The Project Manager partners closely with business leaders, technology, risk and control partners to identify and assess emerging risks and issues across Mortgage Servicing processes, systems, and ownership areas, translating findings into clear remediation plans and ensuring timely execution through closure—including customer redress when applicable.

The position applies expert-level project management discipline to lead large, high-complexity initiatives from initiation through completion, maintaining alignment to scope, timeline, budget, and quality expectations while navigating a matrixed environment. The individual is recognized as a subject matter expert who interprets internal and external issues, recommends best practices, improves workflows/methodologies, and establishes controls, metrics, and reporting that increase delivery efficiency and compliance outcomes.

Work is typically independent and self-directed, with guidance required only for the most complex situations, and may include coordinating functional teams and multiple interrelated projects, including business transformation efforts. analysis, process improvement and risk.

There is a 5 day in office expectation. Other locations include Charlotte and Greensboro, NC.

This position is focused on process improvement, risk, and/or root cause analysis.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Leads or coordinates project planning activities for large, complex projects to devise a feasible plan that achieves the goals and objectives of the project and is aligned with the business strategy.
  • Defines problems and scope parameters, organizes project teams, assigns individual responsibilities, develops project schedules and milestones, identifies structures of authority and processes for decision making, and determines resource requirements.
  • Understands and articulates the expectations for the project deliverable/s and ensures shared understanding within the team.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with all stakeholders and manages resources throughout the entire project.
  • Measures project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.
  • Reports on the status of projects including key performance indicators (KPIs), cost, timing, and staffing.
  • Troubleshoots and manages activities to ensure adherence to internal and external quality standards.
  • Performs risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Identifies/resolves obstacles to completing project on time and within budget.
  • Recommends schedule changes, cost adjustments or resource additions when necessary.
  • Uses appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation.
  • Identifies and resolves difficult complex issues, reports and escalates to management as needed.
  • Serves as an individual contributor with responsibility in a professional or technical discipline or specialty, but may manage two or fewer employees.
  • Potentially directs the work, coaches or reviews the work of lower level professionals.
