A rapidly growing organization is seeking a Director of Accounting to lead, strengthen, and scale the accounting function during an exciting phase of expansion. This is an immediate hiring need for a hands‑on, strategic leader who thrives in high‑growth environments and brings proven experience in process optimization, systems improvements, and building scalable infrastructure.
This role will oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and partner closely with executive leadership on key financial and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate combines deep technical accounting expertise with strong people leadership and a track record of improving processes to support growth.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and revenue recognition
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial statements
- Hire, mentor, and develop the accounting team, driving performance and organizational scalability
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
- Design, implement, and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies
- Coordinate external audits and oversee preparation of tax filings
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and system enhancements to increase efficiency and support scaling
- Partner cross‑functionally with FP&A and leadership on budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, investor diligence, and M&A activities
- Lead technical accounting research and implementation of new accounting standards
- Support executive leadership on financial strategy and operational initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s preferred)
- CPA or CMA strongly preferred
- 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including direct team leadership
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Experience managing audits and external auditor relationships
- Demonstrated success in process optimization, system implementation, and building scalable accounting infrastructure
- Advanced experience with ERP systems and accounting platforms
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
- Experience with multi‑state U.S. and Canada tax filings is a plus
