The City of Richmond Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities is seeking a qualified Recreation Program Supervisor. This position is responsible for providing supervisory oversight for the programming, scheduling and processing of permits for Mid-town Green, Dogwood Dell, Department Community Centers, Parks/Park facilities and the coordination and implementation of Special Events to include ribbon cutting ceremonies, Juneteenth, Grand Illumination, Film Productions and other City-wide events and activities.
The Recreation Program Supervisor will work under the direction of the Recreation Program Manager for Special Events/Permits.
Duties include but are not limited to- This position will provide strategic planning for Special Events.
- Supervise staff who are assigned to the areas of operation and programming.
- Conduct performance evaluations for staff, interns, temporary staff and volunteers.
- Manage the day-to-day operational activities of the scheduling division.
- Serves as lead operational supervisor for designated events & programs.
- Assist with Creating reports and maintaining equipment.
- Issuance of facility permits and review and updating of standard operation procedures
- Work weekends and evening events.
- Conduct site tours
- Bachelor's degree in parks and recreation, business or public administration
- Five years of professional recreational programming and parks or facilities management experience.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
- Some assignments may require a background check, additional certifications and a valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record and a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License within 30 days of hire.
- Assignments involving transportation may require a Commercial Driver's License.
