Lakeside Health & Rehab is seeking an experienced, hands‑on Environmental Services Director to join our leadership team in Richmond, Virginia!

We're looking for a motivated professional who understands the unique demands of skilled nursing and long‑term care and can successfully oversee housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance operations.

YOUR ROLE: LEAD OUR ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES TEAM

As our Environmental Services Director, you'll play an essential role in creating a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for our residents, visitors, and employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Department Leadership:
    Oversee daily housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance operations while ensuring exceptional standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety.

  • Staff Management:
    Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, and motivate Environmental Services employees while promoting accountability and teamwork.

  • Infection Prevention:
    Develop and implement cleaning schedules, sanitation procedures, and infection prevention protocols in accordance with healthcare standards.

  • Regulatory Compliance:
    Conduct routine inspections and maintain compliance with applicable state, federal, and facility requirements.

  • Budget & Inventory Management:
    Manage departmental budgets, monitor expenses, oversee purchasing, and maintain appropriate supply and inventory levels.

  • Preventative Maintenance:
    Coordinate maintenance activities and preventative maintenance programs to ensure a safe and well‑maintained facility.

  • Quality Assurance:
    Identify opportunities for improvement, address environmental concerns, and maintain survey readiness.

  • Collaborative Leadership:
    Partner with nursing, administration, and other departments to support facility operations and resident satisfaction.

QUALIFICATIONS:

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're seeking a dependable, organized leader with proven experience managing Environmental Services operations in a healthcare environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Healthcare Environmental Services

    Experience:

    Previous Environmental Services or Housekeeping Management experience in a skilled nursing or healthcare setting is required.

  • Leadership & Staff Management:
    Proven experience supervising employees, developing staff schedules, coordinating daily assignments, and managing departmental operations.

  • Infection Prevention & Compliance:
    Strong knowledge of sanitation standards, infection prevention practices, and regulatory requirements in healthcare environments.

  • Operational Management:
    Ability to oversee multiple departments, manage competing priorities, and maintain high standards in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Communication & Organization:
    Strong leadership, communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.

Additional Qualifications Preferred:

  • Experience overseeing housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance operations.

  • Knowledge of departmental budgeting, purchasing, inventory management, and PAR levels.

  • Familiarity with healthcare inspections, regulatory surveys, and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Experience training, mentoring, and developing high‑performing teams.
