Manufacturing Engineering Technician – Overview
Design, implement, and improve production operations on the manufacturing floor while serving as a key link between Maintenance and Production teams. The role requires significant hands‑on time to collaborate with operators, maintenance technicians, supervisors, and managers.
Responsibilities- Design, implement, and improve production operations to support company growth.
- Spend extensive hands‑on time on the manufacturing floor to observe, document, and improve machine and process reliability, efficiency, and throughput.
- Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Safety teams to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical production issues using root‑cause analysis and structured problem‑solving techniques.
- Motivate employee participation and secure stakeholder buy‑in for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage improvement projects from concept to completion, including research, justification, timeline, change management, installation, training, business integration, and final handover.
- Create milestones and countermeasures to ensure project deadlines are met and maintain accountability.
- Manage multiple projects and shifting priorities, demonstrating ownership and resilience in overcoming obstacles.
- Prepare and present project ideas, objectives, and timelines to all levels of the organization based on observations and performance data analysis.
- Apply design and fabrication skills to improve mechanical, electrical, and production systems with custom tooling, fixtures, and layouts.
- Serve as a subject‑matter expert to establish best practices, SOPs, and WIs, and train Production and Maintenance staff on safety, capability, reliability, and efficiency.
- Schedule:
Monday‑Friday, 1st shift 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.; 2nd shift 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. - Length:
Direct Hire - Salary: $60,000 – $65,000 per year DOE, plus $10,000 shift differential for 2nd shift.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, production support, or a similar technical role.
- 3–5 years of hands‑on experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems in a production environment.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing role with extensive machine operation and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting machinery, mechanical systems, automation, and industrial equipment.
- Experience with project planning, execution, and integration.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects from concept through implementation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
- High level of ownership, accountability, and initiative.
- Adaptable, resourceful, and committed to continuous learning and improvement.
- Self‑managing and responsive to feedback from all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD) for fixture development and equipment floorplan layout generation.
- Familiarity with TPM, predictive maintenance, and reliability‑centered maintenance practices.
- Background check and drug screen will be required upon offer of employment.
