Job Description
The NDT Inspector performs non‑destructive testing on steam and gas turbine components and generator parts, supporting quality assurance in both factory and field environments.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities- Follow all safety procedures and participate in required safety training.
- Perform assigned inspections and tasks under the direction of Supervisor/Leadman.
- Demonstrate strong communication and work habits consistent with the Behavioral Skills section of the Skills Matrix.
- Conduct NDT inspections, including:
- Magnetic Particle (MT): rotors, casings, vane carriers, blades, fusion lines.
- Dye Penetrant (PT): removed/installed blades, retaining rings, faceplates, generator dovetails, vane carriers, wedges, and hardware; operate penetrant line.
- Ultrasonic (UT): bearings, braze coupons, tenons, installed blade pins, weld build‑ups, phased array weld build‑ups, phased array L‑O steeples, flaw depth sizing, retaining ring forgings/bar stock; follow all UT safety requirements.
- Perform hardness testing using Equotip, Wilson, and Clark equipment.
- Prepare NCRs and complete all steps in I&T Plans.
- Communicate professionally with team members and support workforce skill development.
- Perform other functions as assigned.
- Ability to work 1st shift (7-3:30pm) or 2nd shift (3-11:30pm).
- High School diploma or GED.
- NT, PT, UT Level 2 Certification with 5 years’ experience.
- Ability to work overtime as required, including occasional weekend shifts.
- Significant technical experience (approximately 5 or more years) with a variety of power generating equipment (steam and gas).
- Strong math skills and the ability to perform complex mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work independently and with others under stressful conditions.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions to solve complex problems.
- Ability to document and follow proper procedures and train others to do so.
Regular: $26.00–$41.50/hr plus $2/hr shift differential. Senior position: $42.50–$46/hr plus $2/hr shift differential.
Additional InformationThis role requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information. Offers are contingent on obtaining authorization from the U.S. Government.
