Electrical Test Technician – 3rd Shift

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking an Electrical Test Technician – 3rd Shift at our Oakleys Ct site in Richmond, VA. The hourly rate for this position is $27.50, plus an $0.80 shift differential per hour.

Hours:

3:30PM – MIDNIGHT.

• Test and/or modify electrical equipment after production before shipment.
• Inspect product functions and monitor test procedures.
• Perform system tests, including IR and dielectric testing, and complete written test reports, logs, and records.
• Troubleshoot electrical problems in complex systems, AC/DC circuitry, and printed circuit assemblies to the component level.
• Assemble, set‑up programs, and perform functional tests on circuit boards.
• Organize work by reviewing work requests, studying wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications, testing systems and electrical components, determining causes of problems, and developing solutions.
• Use test equipment such as digital meters, current meters, out‑of‑phase transformers, variacs, resistive load banks, hi‑pot testers, current clamps, computers, and infrared cameras.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations and codes.

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited educational institution.
• A minimum of one year of experience in electrical test or related electronic technologies, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Must reside within a 50‑mile radius of the work location unless an active‑duty military service member, who is exempt from the geographical limitation.

Preferred:

• Associate’s degree in electronics or electrical engineering technology.
• Prior training with electrical equipment and testing procedures.
• Ability to read one‑line drawings, wire lists, and schematics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
• Understanding of delta‑wye 3‑phase transformer and resistive load bank technology.

• Must sit, stand, and walk regularly.
• Must lift up to 50pounds during the shift.
• Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, push, and/or pull.
