Machine Operator, Silver Mill
Hourly Pay: $20.00
What You Will Be DoingThe Machine Operator in the Silver Mill operates drawing and rolling equipment to produce wire and sheet products; uses measuring instruments for quality control; and learns/adheres to all safety rules and regulations. Sets up and prepares machines for production with close tolerances. Consistently produces 1,500ozs of flat sheet and slit strip/bezel per week with a defect rate of 5% or less.
Keeps production backlog consistently under 5 days. May be required to perform specific tasks that involve standing, bending, lifting up to 45 lbs, pushing and pulling. Work is performed within an air-conditioned production environment, subject to temperature variations, increased noise levels.
- Shows up consistently and arrives on time, Monday-Friday, 8:00AM to 4:30PM
- Willing to work occasional overtime paid at time and a half
- Reviews processes and recommends changes where necessary
- Has 10 or less customer returns per year and meets 90% of delivery targets
- Scans jobs to the proper area and box # throughout process; including time and weight
- Inspects product visibly with use of magnification and using precise measuring instruments for quality and proper dimensions
- Identify needed parts, tools, and materials based on information provided in work order, ensures that the correct amount of materials are ordered or stocked at all times
- Keeps work area clean and organized
- Works well with coworkers using both written and verbal communication
- Provides opinions and ideas when problem-solving to formulate the best path forward
- Participates in all safety training, understands SDS sheets, wears PPE where appropriate
- Understands and utilizes metal flow processes and metal security procedures
- Adheres to all building security procedures (the wearing of metal‑free clothing, displaying of at all times, daily clock in and out)
- Other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 1 year of documented manufacturing experience
- Good work ethic, punctual with consistent attendance
- Basic computer skills necessary for tracking of jobs
- Works well with coworkers using written and verbal communication
- Ability to read, comprehend and adhere to training materials and SOPs
- Must be able to use and read measuring instruments (rulers, calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges) to measure ounces, grams, inches and millimeters, along with the ability to perform simple math equations
- Ability to perform in short cycle, frequent change‑over environment
- Good attention to detail
