Overview
Night Shift 6AM-4PM Monday-Thursday
A feeder/packer will interchange functions depending on the business needs. Feeder is responsible for feeding paper blanks in machines and sorting. Packer is responsible for packing clamshell or fry cartons, inspecting product for quality, ensuring product is properly glued.
Responsibilities- Feeder: feed a minimum of 4 machines, feeding requires lifting product, pre-breaking them and placing product into feed hopper.
- Feeder: be able to feed and maintain 6 formers.
- Feeder: remove tickets from loads and hand tickets to the operator.
- Feeder: monitor quality, ensure cartons are straight, remove loose scrap, and sort as required by the operator.
- Feeder: maintain the R.S.C. inventory and supply case packers with the R.S.C.’s needed for production.
- Feeder: maintain good housekeeping and follow all safety requirements including GMPs, PPEs, HACCP, and JSA regulations.
- Feeder: perform other duties as required.
- Packer: catch and maintain 6 lanes.
- Packer: pull product from forming chutes at the count mark.
- Packer: perform basic quality control to ensure bad product is removed and replaced with good product.
- Packer: check that product is properly glued and the correct number of products is packed into sleeves; complete quality check-off sheets.
- Packer: after quality checks, place product in position and into a bag; place sleeve of product into bag, then bag into case and place case onto conveyor.
- Packer: assist operators with cleaning glue tips and relief other packers for breaks and lunch; assist with labeling and repacking boxes; keep area neat and clean.
- Packer: maintain good housekeeping and follow all safety requirements including GMPs, PPEs, HACCP, and JSA regulations.
- Packer: perform other duties as required; make boxes and label boxes; fill glue containers for machines; clean up work area; check with operators or supervisor on anything else that needs to be done.
Education and Experience
- Education:
High School Diploma or GED preferred. - Experience:
Packaging experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
Other Qualifications
Must be dependable and a team player, ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, internal quality procedures, and machine operating procedures. Ability to communicate production and machine issues to supervisors and others in the work area. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment around machinery. Basic mathematics (counting) and basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
- Safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes are required. Task-specific PPE may be required.
- Manufacturing plant is not environmentally controlled; changes in humidity and temperature occur throughout the year.
Physical Demands:
The employee may continuously use hands and fingers to position, and arms to reach. The employee may frequently bend and move about the work area. The employee may occasionally remain in a stationary position, ascend/descend steps, push and pull, and move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
