The Gluer Technician is responsible for evaluating, recommending, and improving operational processes associated with manufacturing programs, including those of the Gluing equipment. This role manages equipment operators and leads process improvement efforts ensuring optimal equipment effectiveness by eliminating process variability and increasing quality and output. Ideal candidate possesses a growth mindset, innate curiosity, and commitment to continual learning impacting operational effectiveness.
EssentialJob Duties
- Analyze existing business processes and develop new and improved working practices as required.
- Provide high levels of technical expertise to investigate, analyze and resolve detailed and complex equipment issues to ensure optimal output.
- Proactively monitor and evaluate daily production output for improvement opportunities.
- Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to safety and quality.
- Support and direct equipment operators; ensure operational team members are skilled in tools and techniques to deliver quality and optimal production including but not limited to making proper in‑process adjustments and overall equipment functionality for Operator.
- Collaborates with equipment operators and engineering team to develop and implement reengineering initiatives, creation of standard operating procedure documentation, for and benefit realizations relating to make‑ready’s, tooling set up, process/equipment adjustments etc.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and oversee the management of continuous improvement initiatives to ensure they are delivered within specified time frames, budget and scope.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to drive agreed upon business outcomes.
- Responsible for ensuring, where applicable, the product safety, quality, regulatory compliance and legality of all products produced and sold.
- Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis strategies; proven track record of accomplishments and results in the areas of safety, productivity, efficiency, waste and quality; superior mechanical aptitude in areas including tooling, communication systems, electrical motors, gear boxes, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, etc. Self‑motivated, hands‑on individual with keen interest in quickly learning and applying new skills who can follow written / verbal instructions and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including but not limited to rotating shifts, overnight shifts, and weekends. - Ability to read, understand, and comprehend Safety Rules; operating and maintenance instructions; quality procedures/quality checklists; and production data log. Ability to communicate production and machine issues to supervisors and others in work area.
- Ability to perform calculations for measuring and calculating amounts.
- Safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and steel‑toed shoes are required. In addition, task specific PPE may be required.
- Our Manufacturing plant is not environmentally controlled. Changes in humidity and temperature occur throughout the year.
This position requires continuous use of hands and fingers for handling and positioning items, as well as arms for reaching. The role also involves frequent bending and movement throughout the work area, with occasional periods of remaining stationary, climbing stairs, pushing and pulling objects, and communicating as needed. Employees may occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, and color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
