Forklift Operator - Warehouse - 2nd Shift

Job Summary

2nd shift: 2PM-10PM. The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating industrial trucks to load/unload materials and supplies, moving them to and from loading docks or storage facilities. The operator also receives documents and creates BOL in the system.

• Use sit-down forklift, clamp truck (process-specific), and manual and/or electric pallet jack to safely transport product and material among loading, processing, and storage areas, and to load and unload trucks.
• Use Warehouse Management System to maintain transactions that validate the processing and disposition of product and materials, and use an RF scanner to scan transactions into the system.
• Place an empty gaylord (process-specific) for each zone at the start of the shift.
• Load and unload product and material manually or mechanically from pallets or skids for transport to designated areas.
• Pick, wrap, and stage orders to be shipped and create and generate and attach labels as required.
• Perform and document daily inspection of the forklift and other material handling equipment, following reporting procedures to communicate and resolve any maintenance or safety issues.
• Assist with training new warehouse employees.
• Assist with daily, monthly and year-end cycle counts.
• Record data on specified forms and complete required documentation.
• Receiving paperwork and creating BOL in SAP.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures including GMP, PPE, HACCP, OSHA standards and JSA regulations.
• Ensure, where applicable, product safety, quality, regulatory compliance and legality of all products produced and sold.
• Able to load and unload trucks.
• Perform housekeeping and sanitation tasks to maintain a clean and orderly work area.

• Education:
  
  High school diploma; prior work-related skill, knowledge, and experience also needed.
• Experience:
  
  Minimum one-year forklift experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Skills:
  
  Ability to use RF scanner for WMS transactions and to ensure inventory accuracy; operate manual or electric pallet jack; read and understand safety rules, forklift operating and maintenance instructions, material handling, and quality procedure documents; communicate with supervisors and others in the work area; basic mathematics (e.g., counting).
• PPE:
  Safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes, and task‑specific PPE as required.
• Environment:
  Plant is not environmentally controlled; changes in humidity and temperature occur throughout the year.
• Physical demands:
  Remaining in a stationary position, bending, using hands and fingers to operate controls, reaching with arms, pushing and pulling, communicating, moving and positioning up to 50 pounds; vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
