We are seeking a highly organized Inventory & Fabrication Planning Planner to support our mechanical fabrication shop serving commercial construction projects. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory, coordinating material readiness for fabrication and field jobs, supporting production scheduling, and managing consumable inventory.

This position is critical to ensuring manufacturing efficiency, minimizing downtime, and keeping projects on schedule by making sure materials and consumables are available when needed.
Fluency in Spanish is Strongly Preferred to effectively communicate with shop personnel.

A day in the life:

Inventory Control (Core Responsibility)

  • Maintain accurate tracking of raw materials, fittings, and job-specific components
  • Perform routine cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies
  • Organize inventory locations to support efficient material picking and staging
  • Track material usage by job to improve visibility and reduce waste

Material Coordination (Non-Purchasing)

  • Review shop drawings, cut lists, and bills of material (BOMs) for material needs
  • Coordinate with purchasing or management on required materials
  • Track incoming materials and flag shortages or delays
  • Support staging and kiting of materials for fabrication jobs to ensure readiness
  • Ensure materials are allocated to the correct projects

Fabrication Scheduling Support

  • Assist in building and maintaining the shop fabrication schedule
  • Coordinate material readiness with production timelines
  • Adjust schedules based on material availability and shop capacity
  • Track job progress and update status for internal visibility

Consumable Inventory Management

  • Manage inventory of shop consumables (e.g., fasteners, grinding discs, welding supplies, PPE)
  • Monitor usage and maintain appropriate stock levels to prevent shortages
  • Coordinate replenishment needs with purchasing or management
  • Identify high-usage items and help standardize stocking levels

Coordination & Communication

  • Work closely with shop supervisors, project managers, and field teams
  • Ensure materials are prepared and delivered for field installation as needed
  • Communicate inventory shortages, delays, or risks proactively
  • Facilitate clear communication between English- and Spanish-speaking team members
You should have:
  • 2–5 years of experience in inventory control, fabrication support, or construction-related operations
  • Experience in manufacturing, fabrication shop, mechanical/HVAC, piping, or similar environment preferred
  • Fluent in Spanish and English (Strongly Preferred)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working without a formal ERP system (spreadsheets/manual tracking)
  • Basic understanding of drawings, cut lists, or BOMs (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Excel or similar tools
