The Saw Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in Richmond, VA. The individual in this role will set up, operate, and monitor various saws to cut materials to specified dimensions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety protocols. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting work orders or blueprints, measuring and marking materials, inspecting finished parts for quality, and performing routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and the work area.
The Saw Operator will work closely with production and warehouse teams to meet daily output goals, handle material loading and unloading, and follow all company safety and quality standards.
- Proficient in machine operation, including setup, safe use, and basic troubleshooting of production equipment.
- Hands‑on experience using hand tools to measure, mark, adjust, and finish materials accurately.
- Ability to operate saws safely and effectively, including band saws, with attention to precision and quality.
- Experience with forklift operation or other material‑handling equipment in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Knowledge of shop safety practices, PPE use, and OSHA or similar safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret production documents, drawings, or basic blueprints and use measuring devices (tape measures, calipers, squares).
- Strong attention to detail, quality‑focused mindset, and ability to meet production schedules.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift materials, and work in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in manufacturing or woodworking is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is beneficial.
