Press Operator
Reports to:
Production Manager
Summary:
Operates Gravure Printing Press to produce “Best In Class” packaging for domestic and international use.
- Operate press to develop end-result printed material in accordance with customer specifications.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and monitor press operation.
- Prepare press by performing make‑ready tasks: mixing inks and solvents, replenishing supplies, resolving printing defects and adjustments.
- Operate and maintain roll stand service, check viscosity, and keep solvent and ink containers filled.
- Fill auto‑viscosity containers, solvent tanks, and cans as needed.
- Make adjustments, clear jams while processing product, maintaining speed and quality.
- Ensure efficient make‑ready, unloading and loading of printing carriages and rotary tools.
- Verify quality of jobs completed by inspecting for color, register, cutting, creasing, and defect free; ensure finished product meets or exceeds customer expectations.
- Complete all required checklists.
- Maintain safe and clean work environment in compliance with EHS and Clean policies.
- Use appropriate PPE and safety equipment; assist team members in maintaining a safe environment.
- Interact with team members respectfully, keeping open lines of communication.
- Provide feedback and initiate corrective action when goals or results are not met.
- Conduct team meetings when necessary and motivate crew to improve quantity and quality of work.
- Perform any additional tasks as requested by Department Leads, Shift Leads, or Management.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3 years of press operation experience, specifically Gravure printing, with troubleshooting skills.
- Proven interpersonal and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills and mathematical skills capable of computing percentages, weights, and measures.
- Ability to rotate shifts and work beyond 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week when necessary.
- Prolonged standing, stooping, bending, reaching, balancing, climbing, kneeling, and crouching.
- Frequent lifting in excess of 60 lbs.
- Manual dexterity, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and good eye‑hand coordination required.
- Ability to rotate shifts.
