Team Lead
Job Description
The Team Lead oversees second-shift production activities, ensuring all team members work safely, follow standard procedures, and meet quality and production expectations. This role supports new employee onboarding, enforces safety and quality standards, and drives continuous improvement while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Responsibilities- Ensure all employees consistently follow safety rules, including proper tool use, correct personal protective equipment (PPE), and department-specific safety procedures.
- Support new employee onboarding by providing feedback and guidance as part of the 30-60-90 day and Individual Development Plan (IDP) programs.
- Ensure team members follow defined procedures and comply with all quality requirements.
- Enforce and train team members on P100 quality standards to maintain high product quality.
- Help operators follow area standard work to build an efficient team that meets daily production demand.
- Assess and address material, production, and personnel issues on second shift, and determine when to resolve issues independently and when to elevate for additional support.
- Ensure all team members follow company policies as outlined in the employee handbook.
- Report safety, quality, production and delivery concerns to the department supervisor in a timely manner.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and supportive work environment for the team.
- Assist in driving a continuous improvement culture by identifying opportunities and supporting implementation.
- Attend all scheduled leadership meetings to stay aligned with organizational goals and expectations.
- Attend production meetings as needed to understand priorities, schedules, and performance expectations.
- Collaborate with other team leads on safety, quality, production and delivery issues to ensure consistent practices across shifts and departments.
- Take on additional duties or assist in other departments as needed when department needs change.
- Work with the supervisor on continuous improvement projects and support implementation of process enhancements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area that meets 5S standards.
- Provide and receive constructive feedback to support team development and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated readiness to take on the responsibilities of a leadership role.
- Willingness to attend, prepare for, and actively participate in New Leader Training – “The SRC Way” classes.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey expectations and provide feedback.
- Willingness to learn and understand safety and quality requirements specific to the department.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for long periods and stoop or bend frequently during the shift.
- Ability to safely use all tools once trained on correct use.
- Ability to measure components according to engineering drawings.
- Ability to interpret drawings, routers, and special notes once trained.
- Basic understanding of math to support measurement, inspection, and production tasks.
- Mechanical aptitude, including comfort working with mechanical components and processes.
- Ability to take and give constructive criticism in a professional manner.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience with inspection and quality control processes.
- Familiarity with hoists and material handling equipment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and production workflows.
- Experience using power tools and hand tools safely and effectively.
- Prior experience in supervision or leadership roles.
- Safety awareness and prior safety training.
- Mechanical assembly experience, including working from schematics or blueprints.
- Experience with heavy lifting in a production or assembly setting.
- Experience in packaging, assembly line work, and sealing operations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics after training.
- Participation in leadership training or development programs.
