Shift Supervisor - Richmond Seppic, VA

Salary Range: $80k - $92k

Bonus: 5% Annual

Travel: 0-5% based on business needs

Work schedule:

Mon — Fri (regular business hours)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Supervises team of chemical technicians in the production of cosmetic ingredients
  • Ensures chemical technicians are properly trained before they work independently
  • Develops thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment operation
  • Reports and reacts to any manufacturing deviation or safety incidents in a timely manner
  • Enter transactions into the company’s MRP system
  • Approves work permits for maintenance tasks
  • Works with his/her team to prepare and schedule equipment for maintenance
  • Works with logistics team to coordinate raw material and finished product requests
  • Participates in passdown meeting with previous shift supervisor
  • Leads daily meeting with his/her team to review priorities
  • Ensures his/her team is using Good Manufacturing Practices in their daily work
  • Ensures manufacturing documentation is completed in accordance with Good Documentation Practices and other Polykon Quality Standards
  • Ensures good housekeeping in the manufacturing facility with his/her team
  • Assists chemical technicians with analyzing results from in-process samples to ensure batches are in specification
  • Ensures equipment cleaning procedures have been executed correctly and that his/her team understand the importance of proper and thorough cleaning
  • Recommends improvements to manufacturing methods
  • Serves as the headcount coordinator for his/her shift
  • Serves as the site point of contact for safety, environmental, and quality issues that arise during their shift, and escalates issues appropriately
  • Participates in root cause investigations and 6S studies
  • Other duties as assigned
COMPETENCY / SKILLS
  • Good understanding of chemical manufacturing processes or willingness to learn
  • Good understanding of industrial safety practices
  • Good understanding of which protective equipment to use for certain situations
  • Understanding of Good Documentation and Manufacturing Practices
  • Ability to read and understand company procedures (SOP’s)
  • Ability to write department procedures and training instructions
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • Ability to use computers and company software
  • Good communication skills
  • Self starter and motivated to complete work in a safe manner with high quality level
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Approved manufacturing clothing must be worn while in production areas
  • Hard hats, safety shoes and safety glasses must be worn at all times on site
  • Additional PPE (ear plugs, face shields, respirators, gloves, boots, and aprons) may be required for certain manufacturing tasks
  • Manufacturing facility is clean, well lit, and ventilated. Air conditioning is available in office areas
  • Manufacturing area is electrically classified (potential for explosive atmosphere)
  • No cell phones are allowed in the manufacturing facility
  • Medical evaluations may be required for certain manufacturing tasks
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Periods of sitting in front of computers
  • Reading and validating information in production documentation
  • Frequent walking and climbing stairs from control room to manufacturing areas during production of batches
  • Operate with good hygiene practices and have good personal hygiene
  • Periodically may need to perform tasks assigned to chemical technicians
EDUCATION
  • Completion of a degree/certification program in manufacturing technology (preferred)
  • 5 years of supervision in a chemical process industry
  • 10 years of supervision in an industrial process industry (non-chemical process)
