Assembly Mechanic

The Assembly Mechanic assembles and tests industrial piping systems and skid packages by following engineering drawings and technical specifications. This role uses hand and power tools, performs pneumatic and hydrostatic testing, and maintains accurate documentation while working safely in a structured shop environment.

• Assemble and align piping systems, supports, valves, and control components according to engineering specifications and detailed drawings.
• Lay out and assemble mechanical systems by interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints with a high degree of precision.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment safely and effectively during all assembly and installation activities.
• Assemble industrial skids, including 12-foot industrial skid packages, ensuring correct placement, fit, and function of all components.
• Install and test piping systems, including pipe and plumbing installations, to ensure proper flow, pressure, and function.
• Perform pneumatic and hydrostatic pressure tests on assembled systems and inspect for leaks, defects, or nonconformances.
• Document test results, material usage, and quality checks accurately using QA/QC checklists and other required forms.
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), and compliance with lockout/tagout protocols.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area to support safe and efficient operations.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve assembly or testing issues and ensure systems meet required specifications.
• Apply problem-solving skills to identify root causes of issues and implement effective corrective actions during assembly and testing.
• Handle basic mechanical tasks related to diesel, automotive, or construction-style mechanical systems as needed to support assembly work.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics for mechanical and piping systems.
• Proficiency in mechanical assembly, including piping, supports, valves, and control components.
• Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively in a mechanical or construction environment.
• General knowledge of piping materials, mechanical components, and basic hand/power tools.
• Mechanical assembly experience in areas such as industrial assembly, automotive technology, diesel mechanics, or construction-related mechanics.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to follow instructions, document work, and coordinate with team members.
• Physical stamina, including the ability to stand for long periods, bend, stretch, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound, data-based decisions during assembly and testing.
• High attention to detail and the ability to assemble systems to precise measurements and tolerances.
• Ability to maintain accurate documentation, including QA/QC checklists, material usage records, and test results.
• Commitment to following safety procedures, including PPE requirements, SOPs, and lockout/tagout protocols.

• Experience reading technical drawings and assembling piping systems (preferred).
• Plumbing or pipe fitting experience in an industrial or construction environment (preferred).
• Experience performing pneumatic or hydrostatic testing on piping or mechanical systems (preferred).
• Familiarity with flow shop procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs) (preferred).
• Experience in mechanical fields such as diesel mechanics, automotive technology, or construction trades.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented shop environment and support continuous improvement efforts.

This role is based in a flow shop environment focused on assembling industrial skids and piping systems using hand tools, power tools, and specialized testing equipment. Standard hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the potential to work later, up to approximately 4:15 p.m., as workload requires.
