Job Title
Position Summary Manages the operation of the Printing, Cutting, Die Making, Laminating and Stamping Departments in a manner that meets the company's production, quality, waste, safety, and cost standards.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for day-to-day management of the plant through the management of supervisory staff, including achieving production goals, managing performance of direct reports, making sound operational decisions, solving problems, and managing conflict
- Ensure the timely production of quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations
- Proactively manage departmental metrics that impact cost (downtime, make-readies, run speed and waste)
- Foster a team atmosphere, provide vision, and demonstrate support of the company’s core processes
- Analyzes work orders, work piece, to determine process, materials, machines, and sequence of operation
- Orders all materials for Converting department in Management System. Determines file correctness before ordering stamping materials, embossing dies, foil for each job
- Signs off on all jobs before running
- Assigns tasks to workers, and specifies methods of coordinating workflow to meet production schedules
- Confers with scheduling daily to determine workload and production performance expectation
- Inspects finished pieces visually and using precision measuring devices
- Works with Quality Control to monitor output. Takes part in assessing / grading each project for standard deviations and imperfections
- Maintains time and production records
- Ensures compliance to all company policies and procedures
- Communicates and relates with all levels of the organization
- Works with Maintenance Department to establish and maintain preventive maintenance plan for department equipment
- Ensures employees are following SOP’s and safety regulations
- Ensures staffing is appropriate to meet workload requirements and productivity standards
- Manages performance by setting goals and consistently holding employees accountable for meeting performance standards through coaching, counseling and timely review process
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures
- Performs other job duties as assigned by Vice President of Operations
Skills & Abilities:
- Must have demonstrated ability to do the jobs he/she is managing
- Must be able to relate effectively with others at all levels of the organization
- Must be efficient in basic computer skills
- Must have effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Must be able to work well in a team environment and independently
- Must identify with and support company leadership and decisions
- Ability to foster team work and motivate individual performance
- Must have strong technical knowledge of converting and finishing operations
- Must have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions
- Must have the ability to problem solve and deal with variables
- Must be able to maintain good attendance
Experience:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.;
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferred - Minimum of 10 years of printing and die cutting
- Minimum 5 years management experience
Equipment:
- Macintosh PC running Parallels for Windows, scanners, cameras, faxes, copiers, printers, Cisco IP Phone system
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
