Prospect Blue is partnering with a well-established, stable, and growing manufacturing company seeking an experienced Production Planner/Buyer to join their operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned manufacturing professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing production scheduling, purchasing, inventory management, and cross-functional coordination to ensure on-time delivery and operational efficiency.
This individual will play a critical role in keeping production running smoothly by ensuring materials, schedules, and resources are aligned to meet customer demand.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain production schedules to maximize efficiency while balancing capacity, priorities, and customer deadlines.
- Coordinate with production team leads to execute daily and long-term manufacturing plans.
- Purchase raw materials for both stock and customer-specific production requirements.
- Manage production orders, work orders, and the master production schedule within the ERP system.
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain accurate inventory transactions to support production needs.
- Process customer orders, change orders, and expedite requests as needed.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for production schedules and delivery inquiries from customers, vendors, and internal sales teams.
- Participate in production meetings and collaborate on process improvements and problem-solving initiatives.
- Ensure Bills of Materials (BOMs), routing information, and production data remain accurate and up to date.
- Support order entry and other production planning activities as business needs require.
- 5+ years of production planning and scheduling experience within a manufacturing environment (10+ years preferred).
- Strong understanding of production scheduling, work order management, Bills of Materials (BOMs), production routing, and inventory control.
- Experience purchasing raw materials to support manufacturing operations.
- ERP system experience with strong data entry accuracy required.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive, customer-focused mindset.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent manufacturing experience will be considered.
- APICS (CPIM/CSCP) or similar supply chain certifications are highly preferred. The company supports employees pursuing and maintaining professional certifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience working within an ERP system is required.
