Brief Description
Night Shift 6AM-4AM Monday-Thursday. A feeder/packer will interchange functions depending on the business needs. Feeder is responsible for feeding paper blanks into machines and sorting. Packer is responsible for packing clamshell or fry cartons, inspecting product for quality, ensuring product is properly glued.
Essential Job Functions/Duties Feeder- Feed a minimum of 4 machines, lifting product, pre‑breaking them and placing product into feed hopper.
- Operate and maintain 6 formers.
- Remove plastic from loads and remove tickets, handing tickets to the operator.
- Monitor quality, ensure cartons are straight, remove loose scrap, and sort if required.
- Maintain the R.S.C. inventory and supply case packers with required R.S.C.s for production.
- Maintain good housekeeping.
- Follow all safety requirements, including GMPs, PPE, HACCP & JSA regulations.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Catch and maintain 6 lanes.
- Pull product from forming chutes at the count mark.
- Perform basic quality control to remove bad product and replace with good product.
- Check that product is properly glued and the correct number of products is packed into sleeves; complete quality check‑off sheets.
- After all quality checks, place product in position, into a bag, place sleeve into bag, bag into case, and case onto conveyor.
- Assist operators with cleaning off glue tips.
- Relieve other packers for breaks and lunch, assist with labeling, repack boxes, keep area neat and clean.
- Maintain good housekeeping.
- Follow all safety requirements, including GMPs, PPE, HACCP & JSA regulations.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Make and label boxes.
- Fill glue containers for machines.
- Clean‑up work area.
- Check with operators or supervisor on any other tasks.
- Education:
High School Diploma or GED preferred. - Experience:
Packaging experience in a manufacturing setting preferred. - Must be dependable, a team player, able to read and understand safety rules, quality procedures, and machine operating procedures.
- Ability to communicate production and machine issues to supervisors and others in the work area.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment around machinery.
- Basic mathematics skills (counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Working environment: safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and steel‑toed shoes required; task‑specific PPE may also be required.
- Physical demands: continuous use of hands and fingers, arms to reach, frequent bending and moving, may remain stationary, ascend/descend steps, push and pull, occasional lifting up to 35 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth, and focus adjustment.
