About the RoleUnder direction, this position is responsible for setting up and operating conventional, special purpose and computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabric, repair and modify metallic and non-metallic parts from drawings with first and third angle projection.
MainJob Responsibilities:
- Applies understanding of machine drawing (title block, tolerancing, and Dimensioning).
- Uses basic skill to manufacture basic machine parts.
- Applies basic set-up skills.
- Applies understanding of tool/cutter application.
- Participates in set-up of various fixtures and attachments.
- Applies basic measuring skill to verifies accuracy.
- Utilizes understanding of the order of operation (how to get started).
- Cooperates with supervisors/Senior machinists
- Uses available resources
- Maintains professional knowledge in applicable areas.
- Keeps abreast of changes in the field.
- Reads and interprets professional literature.
- Adheres to safety regulations and policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Hard (technical):
Three to five years of experience in a machine shop environment. Experience with European drawings preferred. - Soft (personal):
The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. - Education required:
Minimum of high school diploma required with vocational diploma preferred.
- Advanced computer and keyboarding skills required.
- Understanding of metric systems and conversions
- Ability read 3rd projection drawings a strong plus
- Excellent communication, grammar, voice and diction.
- Visual, verbal and written acuity required to write clear and concise technical reports, business correspondence and procedures
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of high school diploma required with vocational diploma preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a machine shop environment.
- Experience with European drawings preferred.
