The Manufacturing Associate is responsible for performing production tasks in a food processing facility focused on the cleaning, roasting, pasteurizing, seasoning, packaging, and labeling of nuts and dried fruits. This position works under the direction of the Line Supervisor to ensure products are produced safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company quality and food safety standards. The Manufacturing Associate plays a key role in maintaining product integrity, sanitation, and operational efficiency on the production floor.
Key Responsibilities:Production & Equipment Operation
- Operate, monitor, and assist with food processing equipment including cleaners, sorters, roasters, pasteurizers, seasoning drums, conveyors, scales, filling machines, and packaging/labeling equipment.
- Load raw materials (nuts and dried fruits) onto processing lines and ensure proper product flow.
- Inspect raw and finished products to remove foreign material or defective product during sorting and processing.
- Accurately weigh, fill, seal, label, and case finished products according to specifications.
- Assemble, disassemble, and clean equipment as required for product changeovers.
- Monitor product appearance, temperature, seasoning application, and packaging integrity during production.
- Follow production schedules and work orders to meet daily output targets.
- Immediately report equipment malfunctions, product inconsistencies, or safety concerns to the Line Supervisor.
- Assist with rework, product changeovers, and startup/shutdown procedures.
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP requirements, and company food safety policies.
- Adhere to allergen control procedures, including proper handling, segregation, labeling, and sanitation practices.
- Conduct visual quality checks to ensure products meet company and customer specifications.
- Verify correct packaging materials and labels are used for each product run.
- Complete required production and quality documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain traceability by properly identifying lot codes and product information.
- Participate in internal audits and inspections as required.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA (if applicable), SQF/BRC (if applicable), and other regulatory food safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, tools, and equipment throughout the shift.
- Perform sanitation duties including washing, rinsing, and sanitizing equipment and production areas.
- Properly dispose of waste and follow recycling and waste reduction procedures.
- Follow all workplace safety policies and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hairnets, beard nets, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and protective clothing.
- Practice safe lifting, material handling, and machine operation techniques.
- Participate in safety training and immediately report unsafe conditions or incidents.
- Lockout/Tagout procedures awareness (as applicable).
- Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet production goals.
- Communicate production issues, material shortages, or quality concerns promptly.
- Assist in training new employees as directed by the Line Supervisor.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude in a fast-paced team environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in food production, manufacturing, or warehouse environment preferred but not required.
- Basic understanding of food safety, sanitation, and GMP practices preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to read and interpret production schedules, labels, and basic work instructions.
