The Virginia Capacity Building Project supports Serve Virginia and their partners in alleviating the effects of poverty through organizational capacity building. While the project covers a wide range of issue areas, from substance use disorder to educational opportunities, all members are dedicated to increasing the impact and reach of volunteerism and pursuing healthy futures for all Virginians. The efforts of Ameri Corps members will help build towards a healthier, happier, and stronger Commonwealth.

Serve your community and develop professional skills through a year of service with Ameri Corps VISTA. In this hybrid position, the International Rescue Committee’s Operations and Development VISTA will build capacity by increasing the IRC’s capacity: developing private-sector resources, strengthening internal policies and procedures, creating a sustainable foundation for the future, developing new grant opportunities, designing and modeling new engagement and development procedures, coordinating and identifying areas for improvement in the Contributions in Kind (CIK) program, and strengthening policies and procedures around security and staff transitions.

The right fit for this position will be self-driven and highly motivated individuals with a passion for serving their communities through capacity building efforts such as grant writing, development, and office operations.
