The International Rescue Committee (IRC) seeks an intern to assist the Community Engagement Coordinator with community outreach, event planning, and donor engagement.
SCOPE OF WORKAssist with outreach to current and potential program partners, manage outreach efforts, track progress and quantify results, support special events, research partnership opportunities, manage social media and newsletter content, maintain outreach materials, and support in‑kind contributions program including donation drives, delivery coordination, inventory management, and database maintenance for the Richmond and Charlottesville offices.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Cold‑call organizations and faith‑based communities.
- Respond to donors and community partner inquiries.
- Update outreach documents and presentations.
- Coordinate donation drives, track inventory, and fulfill donation requests.
- Assist with writing and design tasks such as newsletter articles, social media content, web posts, invitations, and event programs.
- Support special events and community outreach activities.
- Record hours and submit monthly timesheets via the IRC Volunteer Dashboard.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed an undergraduate or graduate degree.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented, organized, and reliable.
- Experience with data entry and database management.
- Familiarity with basic video editing and graphic design software (e.g., Canva).
- Comfortable taking a leadership role as appropriate.
- Interest in learning about the Greater Richmond community.
- Experience working within a nonprofit office environment.
- Personal vehicle not required but may be helpful on occasion.
This position is unpaid and reports to the Community Engagement Coordinator.
