The Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for coordinating volunteer recruitment, training, engagement, and retention efforts, while also supporting the Outreach team in the planning, coordination, and facilitation of community outreach events and initiatives. This is an in-office position.

This position requires the ability to deliver agency services and programs in a culturally responsive and trauma-informed manner that respects and affirms individuals of any race, religion, sex, age, national origin, ability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression.

The Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator reports to the Senior Director of Development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with Program Directors to provide administrative and technical support for agency-wide volunteer management processes, including assisting departments with volunteer onboarding systems, Bloomerang Volunteer account setup, user permissions, and volunteer coordination support as needed.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the recruitment and tracking of volunteers through 3 30-hour volunteer trainings annually.
  • Ensure all volunteers have completed and passed a background check and fingerprint search.
  • Maintain and update volunteer records, including volunteer hours, training participation, and survey data, within the Volunteer Database and VAData.
  • Track volunteer retention through regular follow up and contact.
  • Create and maintain volunteer profiles for new and existing volunteers, including researching volunteer backgrounds, skills, and interests to support stewardship efforts and ensure meaningful volunteer engagement and placement.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for the volunteer training program, including coordinating schedules, distributing training materials, managing attendance and communication, setting up training spaces or virtual platforms, and assisting facilitators and volunteers throughout the training process.
  • Attend volunteer training sessions as scheduled to provide on-site support and ensure a positive and organized experience for participants.
  • Coordinate and schedule group volunteers from corporations and community organizations to support agency program needs and outreach activities.
  • Is Team Captain for Valiant Volunteers Walk Team and recruits volunteers, encourages fundraising efforts, and oversees volunteer efforts day-of.
  • Attends and oversees volunteers, when needed, at agency events.
  • Provides Sr. Director of Development with needed volunteer reports and updates.
  • Assists with the planning, coordination, and facilitation of community outreach events, trainings, tabling opportunities, and awareness initiatives.
  • Supports event logistics, including scheduling, registration, supply preparation, setup, breakdown, and volunteer coordination for outreach activities.
  • Tracks outreach participation, volunteer engagement, and event-related data for reporting and evaluation purposes.
  • Demonstrates commitment to agency mission
  • Represents Safe Harbor at designated meetings
  • Participates in bi-weekly supervision
  • Demonstrates knowledge and adherence to agency core values and staff governing values
  • Attends all required agency meetings and events
  • Participates in regular training to enhance knowledge and skills, per accreditation criteria
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Strong organizational skills and experience managing multiple projects.
  • Experience using Bloomerang Volunteer software or similar systems preferred
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software platforms
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with team members and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking.
  • Ability to remain patient, calm, and professional when working in crisis situations, and can work and make decisions independently and as a member of a team.
  • Availability to occasionally work evening, weekend or holiday hours.
  • Must complete Safe Harbor’s volunteer training as well as a mandatory background check and finger printing.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

$42,000 – $45,000 / year
