The Surgery Supervisor is responsible for oversight of the staff and management of day‑to‑day operations of the unit in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and within the policies, procedures, and guidelines of the organization. The Surgery Supervisor provides optimal services for patients and physicians in conjunction with Charge Nurses and Specialty Coordinators and is a liaison and representative for the perioperative leadership team.

• Works jointly with Anesthesia, Surgeons, the Clinical team, perioperative leadership, and Specialty Coordinators to plan staffing and daily assignments. This includes assigning staff to work areas and/or work assignments, modifying work assignments, assisting with meal coverage, fielding call offs and providing adequate staffing levels for the next shift, and managing the daily procedure schedule including taking postings for add‑on cases.
• May be responsible for the development of the staff schedule and may be a timekeeper for the department.
• Collaborates with various departments to resolve patient care issues. Collaborates with Materials Management, SPD, Engineering, Biomed, and Environmental Services to coordinate the patient care needs of supplies, instruments and equipment, and to resolve environmental issues based upon unit need. Represents organization by serving as daily liaison and resource person to the Medical Staff. Listens and responds in an appropriate and constructive manner to concerns.
